Two Thousand Fifteen

This year was the most challenging and demanding of my life, but it was also the most fulfilling. I became a mother, launched a clothing line, wrote a second book, and moved our “office” out of our converted garage and into a legitimate space.

I will always remember 2015 as a chapter of immense personal growth. It was sweet, and it was hard – times of transition are tender. I’ve been told that it takes about a year after the birth of your first child to feel a sense of “normalcy” return. Of course it’s a new kind of normal – I’d naively assumed I’d feel like myself again, or that my old life would return relatively easily. Having Sloan taught me so much. Being a mom requires entirely new levels of patience, energy, multi-tasking, and self-introspection. The biggest lesson I learned is that balance will never mean what it meant before Sloan’s arrival, and that’s okay. But I’ve also found that when things seem tough, she provides a kind of perspective that makes everything better. Quite simply, she’s the best part of my day, every day.

The holidays are already a reflective, nostalgic time, but I’m also at a turning point in motherhood. I feel a renewed sense of self and purpose, both as it pertains to my personal and professional life, and it’s refreshing. We’re signing off for the next couple of weeks and I look forward to focusing on family and hitting the re-set button. I’m beyond excited about what’s in store for our brand in 2016, and can’t wait to see you back here in January. Thank you so much for your continued love and support. It means the world to me and Cupcakes and Cashmere wouldn’t be what it is without you.

x,
