Our World

1. Charlotte Cardin: I just recently discovered this Canadian singer and have been listening to her music almost exclusively ever since. All of her songs are beautiful, but ‘Faufile’ (which is sung in French, so it deserves to be said that I understand none of it) has been on repeat. It also doesn’t hurt that she’s cool and super stylish, so I’ve also been stalking her on Instagram ever since. – Emily

2. REI National Parks App: This app was a lifesaver on my recent trip to Olympic National Park. It includes in-depth guides to every national park and recreation area with incredibly helpful trail maps, descriptions of hikes, recommendations, and even an option to create a to-do list at each one. But best of all, it can tell you what location and elevation you’re at on any trail—without service! – Leslie

3. Milka & Lu chocolate bar: A few weeks back I went to World Market for my bi-annual trip to the store to stock up on all of my favorite hard-to-find cookies and candies. It was then that I discovered Milka & Lu biscuits, which combines crispy, not-too-sweet biscuits with the milkiest, smoothest chocolate, ever. That’s always been a go-to favorite of mine, but it’s the ratio that is simply perfect: The little biscuits appear to be floating in chocolate and offer just the right amount of crunch. Needless to say, I went back the next week and cleared out their entire stock. – Emily

4. Trader Joe’s “Everything But The Bagel” Sesame Seasoning Blend: I’ve been sprinkling this on pretty much “everything” I’ve eaten lately, from eggs and fried chicken, to salads and simply toast. There’s nothing I really need to say, other than it’s amazing and you should buy it today. – Geoffrey

5. Garlic Curry Spread: I abide by the general rule that however much garlic a recipe calls for, add two to three additional cloves. I love the stuff, which is why I can’t get enough of this spread. It’s so delicious and has made weeknight dinners extremely easy—when sautéeing vegetables, I just add a spoonful of it to the pan and it makes whatever I’m cooking taste amazing, without pulling out my garlic press. – Leslie

6. The Last Line Jewelry: The branding for this newly launched jewelry line is not only gorgeous, it’s also perfectly representative of the pieces: playful, cool, and stunning. They’ll be launching other jewelry soon, but are currently offering an impressive array of stunning earrings (the safety pins and their rainbow flower drops are at the top of my list). – Emily

7. A Song a Day: This email subscription is like a little present in your inbox every morning—a team of curators selects one song to send you every day. They range from classical to punk, and while I don’t love all of them, they’ve introduced me to countless new bands since I subscribed earlier this month. A random selection of songs they’ve sent include this one, this one, and this one—they’re all super different! – Leslie

8. SplitwiseSharing expenses can be a chore to organize, but this app streamlines that process in a simple and effective way. You can create unique groups (or pay individuals) for any bill sharing event (vacations, home utilities, etc.) and it shows a running ticker of who owes what to whom. When you’re ready to settle up, it connects with Venmo or PayPal to complete the payment. You can also adjust the sharing levels, for example, shifting from an even split to 60/40, 80/20, or whatever parameters you need. They also have a few customized “fairness” calculators, which help determine the values of certain expenses. Bonus, the app is free, with no upgrade features required. – Geoffrey

9. Mikkeller Screen Prints: In some cases, you can judge a book (or beer) by its cover—which is why the illustrations on Mikkeller beer bottles originally caught my eye almost five years ago. I still buy the beers—which I’ve come to love for their taste as well as their graphics—just because the bottles are so beautiful. When they recently released a collection of screen prints of some of their most popular beers, I immediately bought the watermelon and carrot prints, which now hang in my kitchen. – Leslie

10. Dirty John podcast: I haven’t even listened to this podcast yet, but just from the small amount I’ve read about it, I know this six-part series is going to be right up my alley. It’s written by Christopher Goffard, a Pulitzer prize winning reporter, following the true story of a successful interior designer looking for love. When she meets the man of her dreams only to find out everything isn’t what it seems, it explores “seduction, deception, forgiveness, denial, and ultimately, survival.” Sign. Me. Up. – Emily

11. Kai Rose Body Wash: I’m a big bath person and part of the whole experience is made exceptionally more enjoyable with good products. I’d long been a fan of Kai’s original fragrance, so when they recently introduced their rose variation in a body wash, I couldn’t wait to try it. It’s sweet and subtle, and lingers-on-your-skin-in-the-prettiest-way and makes my baths feel luxuriously indulgent. – Emily

12. Kinfolk Digital Subscription: As much as I love Kinfolk Magazine, a painfully hipster but really fantastic magazine out of Portland (and now Copenhagen!), it was hard to justify the price of $18 per issue. I recently stumbled across their online subscription which is much more doable ($40 for the entire year), and provides access to all their past issues! – Leslie
