The nature of a small business – especially one like ours that involves the documentation of our personal and at-home life – is such that employees are more like friends and family than people you just work with. In such an intimate small-team environment, you get to know your office mates inside and out – from hilarious quirks, taste in music, and food preferences; to stories from childhood, past relationships, and all the bigger, deeper life stuff.
We hired our editorial director, Alina, this past October, and she quickly became a close confidant and part of our nearest and dearest circle. Aside from spending basically every working minute together (and then some), she’s someone we, Sloan, and the cats love (even selective Luna) – who shared Thanksgiving with us, watches cheesy movies with me when G is out of town, and knows where we keep our candy stash in the kitchen. Simply put, she’s family, and I’m excited for you to get to know her better. So far, she’s shared a peek inside her makeup bag and some of her favorite spots in L.A., but we thought it would be fun to do a little questionnaire with one another.
We share similarities in many ways – at the office we’re proverbial peas in a pod who finish each other’s sentences, twin by accident, and consistently order the same thing when eating. In other ways, we balance each other with the exact opposite opinion – most often pertaining to looks, of both sexes. (Her attraction to a 1970s ‘stache on a man, a la Detective Peña on Narcos, remains inexplicable to me). To see how we stack up against each other in other areas, keep reading!
