Mornings Made Better

It’s all too easy for work days to feel like a monotonous blur of to-do’s and rushed meals had in front of the computer. After bringing on our new and amazing editorial director, Alina (who some of you may already know as The Hyperbalist), we wanted to find a way to elevate the daily grind with a special ritual that takes advantage of our new downtown L.A. surroundings. Each week we have a team brainstorm to discuss new content ideas, so instead of having it be just another task to tackle, we turned it into a tradition to look forward t0 – filled with delicious food, gorgeous flowers, inspiring views and a very necessary cup of high quality coffee.

We walk to Bottega Louie for their incomparable pastries, then head to the Original Los Angeles Flower Market for fresh blooms to liven up the space. Back at the office we make a round of coffee from our new Nespresso Evoluo machine (which makes both full cups of coffee and espresso, at the touch of a button) to fuel our creative discussion, before diving into the latest magazines as a jumping-off point. Coffee is an essential part of that process and whether it’s a quick shot of authentic espresso, or a crema-topped large cup, everyone can customize their favorite coffee recipe. There’s a certain luxury to making a latte in the office, but the simplicity of the Nespresso machine makes it effortless. Here’s a glimpse into our process of making a normal morning better and experiencing a cup above DTLA.
