The One Black Blazer We Love and 3 Simple Ways to Style It

Last week, Emily tried on six of the most popular blazers—but she wasn’t the only one to fall in love with her top pick, from Zara. Jess and Leslie immediately adopted the blazer, which now floats communally through our office, but when we each paired it with an outfit, we were surprised to find how different each outfit felt, despite employing the same grounding piece. Maybe it’s time we each get our own… Read on to steal our looks!

The vast majority of times I wear a black blazer, it’s to pull-together jeans and a tee, but I was inspired to step outside of my comfort zone a bit and throw it on over a cami and silk skirt. Paired with kitten heels, it’s exactly the kind of outfit I would wear to an important meeting.

We have an office-wide joke that I regularly dress grandma-chic—but this might skew more grandpa, and I couldn’t love it more. I wanted all oversized pieces, so I threw on a new button-down with some high-waisted vintage suit pants in another color so the blazer would really pop. Officially plan on living in this uniform until it’s too warm to handle it.

Anytime I put on a white Oxford top, I think of my mom who lives in them. While she usually selects chunky gold jewelry and men’s jeans, this outfit feels like an homage to her preppy sensibility—without fully abandoning my west coast roots. I’d generally wear this outfit with a denim jacket, but the black blazer instantly pulls it together in an outfit that’s a notch above the casual wear I generally rep to the office.
