I love playing with textures, balancing rich, eye-catching fabrics with sleek and subtle counterparts like lace with leather, feathers with silk, and denim with shearling. I kept this texture-play top of mind when working on our winter collection, since coats are a great way to showcase richer fabrics. In designing this faux fur coat, we considered several colors including black and a beige, but as soon as we landed on this berry tone, it felt perfect. The color highlights the faux fur and captures the light so that it actually looks jewel-like. Worn over a streamlined fabric like leather, as I did here, or even black coated denim, it creates a sophisticated and luxe party-ready look that isn’t too over-the-top.
